When I saw this headline I thought that maybe it was April 1st instead of 25th June, but alas the story is true, some "jobsworth" decided that flying little saltire flags on your desk was racist and an edict went out from on high that all flags were to be removed.
One of the reasons I admire the USA so much is the love and pride that people show on a daily basis by flying "old Glory" from their workplaces and their homes, and not just on public holidays, in the UK, especially under New Labour we have been made to feel ashamed of our flag and our history, we in Scotland seemed to escape this mostly, the English on the otherhand have been made to feel that flying the Cross of St George makes them racist BNP (British National Party) thugs and nothing but little Englanders, but now the thought police, the politically correct brigade have decided that having a little Scottish flag on your desk in the "Scottish National Library" is racist! You cannot make this rubbish up.
I always find it odd that people in the UK consider national flags "racist". How can that be? The flag is simply a symbol of the country. Why is it racist? Is national pride considered racism?
